Family Fun Times

Detroit Lake Oregon
This is a great weekend getaway, family fun, lake, hiking, biking, bird watching or just sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows and sharing stories. It is a really great relaxing atmosphere for all ages. The little ones play, learn and get to know each other and enjoy some family traditions and us older kids have some fun too.

If you are lucky enough to have a boat and a great skipper in your family you might even get to try some tubing, (uncoordinated water skiing) swimming and sun bathing for the more passive vacationer. Detroit Lake has several parks around it so choose the one that best suits your group. We picked a quiet spot on the back side away from the bustle but suit your self, something literally for everyone.

Our yearly camp outs began after the sudden death of our sibling and in her honor we did not want to let so much time pass before we saw each other and the holidays always seam so busy.
Thus it became the summer activity. We grew up camping all around Oregon and it seamed natural for our come as you are bunch of folks.

The tradition began at the coast where our family roots are but after several years and many bug bites we decided to branch out and boy this year was a big hit.

Already planning next years fun adventure, complete with ATV vehicles woo hoo!!!
Who says we are getting too old,
Keep that Senior discount on the back burner baby we still have lots of living and loving to do.

Stay tuned for updates from Art Fest in Westport and the Fishermans Festival in Astoria, coming soon.
Here we come Oregon Again!!!

The Wonders of Mother Nature

  • "The only clear thing is that we humans are the only species with the power to destroy the earth... The birds have no such power, nor the insects, nor does any mammal. Yet if we have the capacity to destroy the earth, so, too, do we have the capacity to protect it." -The Dalai Lama
Wanted to share this photo and post from one of my friends, it really struck me as "what is going on" if the bug could talk, but maybe the whole world is talking if we only be still and LISTEN.

Gardens, Family and Summer

This is the kind of day life is all about, just enjoying each others company. Tonight a nice breeze after 90+ all day. Planning big family reunion camp in the coming weeks as well as a girl scout trip. Really appreciating good health and having a job and people to share my life with. (even my facebook buds) thank you for being there all hours of the day and night!

A great week ahead, probably big challenges but with a positive outlook I am sure all will work out for the best.

Fun Family Days

Choosing to create days full of natural fun is work in itself but an investment in your future and the future of your children. Support parks, unplug from TV and get to know each other again
